Scheherazade
Video installation (prefiguration), 2010

Shown for the first time during the Nuit Blanche at the Générateur, Gentilly, within the context of the art event Allons lever la lune, invited by the NoGallery.

Scheherazade, the mythical tale teller of the “1001 Nights”, makes an appearance on the television news. Where does the fairy-tale start, and where does reality end ?

Two monitors face each other: one, a prompter, unrolls an excerpt from the “1001 Nights”, the story of Scheherazade while the other shows mute images of TV presenters around the world who pretend to talk to us and to look at the camera, when in reality they are reading the text on their prompter.

Ideally this work should be shown with a real prompter device.
