My proposition for the project Les arts de la terre et du feu played on the notion of paradox. The fragility of the material itself became symbolic.
Images from actual news, but rather abstract and evocative, showing the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York, on 9/11/2001. A diptychon, icon of the destructive instinct of mankind.
These images revived a refined technique of the 19th century, the “lithophane”:
A fine porcelain plate in relief. When one holds it against the light, it reveals an image in different shades of grey, created by the different thicknesses of the material, more or less transparent. This technique allows a magical, almost photographic rendering to images.
Last photos : presentation of the work at the ERDF enterprise, Mérignac, in the exhibition Lumière, as part of the programme L’entreprise à l’œuvre initiated by the ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, with art works from the CNAP collection, 2014.
